Meet Punky Spunky Brewster!

Punky Spunky Brewster now sports a big smile. She’s come a long way!

Punky and her litter mates were picked up on the side of the highway by Glenwood Animal Control officer and taken to safety at the Glenwood shelter.

A Warm Hearts Member saw this puppy laying lifeless the at shelter on Monday the 23rd of September.   She was skin-over-bone thin,  had mucus in both eyes, and she had a skin infection on her lower abdomen.

Our Warm Hearts Member took Spunky home and gave her fluids every two hours for the next 48 hours.  She was diagnosed with parvo.

The normal procedure for a parvo puppy is for them to get fluids via an IV until they are fully hydrated again.  Punky Brewster did not have any veins strong enough, so she was given fluids under the skin.

SHE MADE IT !!!!!

What a little character she is!!!  With care, she has progressed from lifeless to being full of life, with a sparkle in her beautiful black eyes.

Punky Brewster will  now have a chance to live happily every after with her own forever family.

When Jolene was found under an abandoned house with a litter of puppies, she was just about at the end of her energy.  This sweet girl gave everything she had to keep her puppies alive.  Now she is reveling in the “empty nest syndrome” and enjoying a life of good food, lots of rest and lots of love.joleen closeup looking upJolene is about three years old.  She is house-trained, crate-trained and well past the puppy stage of chewing and getting into mischief.  In fact, Jolene is a very quiet dog.

She is medium-sized – about 43 pounds.  Isn’t she beautiful?  With her “coat of many colors,” she is eye candy, for sure.  If you are interested in adopting Jolene, email warmhearts@earthlink.net for an application.  This is the first step in the adoption process.

Hi! I'm "Grasshopper"!

Hi! I’m “Grasshopper”!

Hey there! I am a petite 6lb, 6 month old kitten. I was found hanging out at the Grasshopper lawn mower store at 4 months old. I weighed under 2lbs.

It was my lucky day when a nice lady who volunteers for the Humane Society came to buy a lawn mower, scooped me right up, and got me a great foster home. I am full of spunkiness and can make you LOL a lot!

Being a natural predator, I have started to bite. I can tell that is not what my foster mom wants so I am really working on getting out of that habit with her help.  I play, play and play some more, then I crash and burn and enjoy a long nap. Sometimes I like to be held and petted, sometimes not. I will let you know!

Baby is a beauty!

Baby is a beauty!

Baby is a 3 year old poodle/pekingese mix. What a loyal lady she is! She was an owner surrender due to being in a neglectful situation, but she has put those days behind her and is excited with each new day.

This precious lady is house trained, and she loves to ride in the car. She knows “sit” and “no.”

Baby loves to sleep with you, but she will only do so with an invitation. She is truly a little lady.

Baby is a quite the social butterfly; she likes children, men and women. She does not seem to mind cats.

She had not been taught to play with toys, but I bet she would be a fast learner!  She plays a little with other dogs but not alot.

Baby is very polite when she eats and will wait for the other dogs to eat first. She takes food from your hand very gently, and she likes treats!


 

Baby is very loving and would do well with a family with older children. A stay at home or work from home mom would suit her as well :-).  She needs a family that can be with her a lot.

When Gallagher’s owner went to a nursing home, Gallagher was left behind.  This little chunk had been a beloved family pet.  In fact, he was loved a little bit too much with treats.

Gallagher has been adopted and is going to be a treasured pet once again.  This time, he’s going to be loved with nice long walks and cuddles on the couch.

Way to go, Gallagher!

I am Andy, and I love everyone!!!

I especially love my foster mom, since she kept me after I was left on her porch 🙁 . But, I still love people and other dogs.

I am sweet, gentle, house trained and crate trained. I am young (about 20 weeks), and am a playful and inquisitive pup, not to mention ADORABLE!!!!

I would be great in a family with kids or another dog to play with me!!  I don’t think I would do very good alone unless I had a work-from-home mom.

I am small (15.5lbs) and will probably never be big boy, maybe 25 lbs.

Richie is crate trained, house broken, leash trained, and loves to play with anything available, animal or toy.  He loves snoozing on the couch next to you in the evening and always in a good mood.
