There are many ways you can support Warm Hearts.

Monetary donations are tax deductible. Funds are always needed for vet bills, food and medicine. We accept donations via PayPal or by credit card using PayPal (click the “Donate” button on this page). Checks can be mailed to the contact address on this page as well.

New collars in small and medium sizes are always in short supply. Gift cards to PETCO and PETSMART for these and other needed items are greatly appreciated.

There are many kinds of donations that will help Warm Hearts Humane Society!

We love gently used toys (our puppies go through a lot of toys, and they don’t care if they are new or used). We are smart shoppers and can always find good toys, collars, shampoo, etc. on sale.

Volunteer! You can directly help in many ways.

Youth groups and church groups have helped by making homemade toys for us. A plastic water bottle tied in a sock is a treasured toy. Large and small dogs alike love them. (Just be sure to remove the cap and the little plastic ring first).

We need people with good photography skills. Adoption photos are crucial to getting dogs and cats adopted. It can take hours to get good photos of dogs. If you have the skill and the patience to help with photographs, we would love your help.

Volunteer to leash-train a puppy or a dog. Having someone who will take a dog or puppy for an hour or two and train them on a one-on-one basis is invaluable. It just takes patience.

A Successful Warm Hearts Fundraiser – March 25, 2017

On March 25th, 2017, over 200 people from all walks of life in our community gathered at the Joplin Volunteer Fire Department’s Fire House at Mountain Harbor Resort and Spa to support the animals in need in our county. The good folks from Mountain Harbor Resort volunteered time and energy to clear out the fire station, set up tables and chairs, and provide the best chefs in the county to fry fish, potatoes and hush puppies for the crowd to feast upon. Local businesses and supporters donated items for the auctions and uber auctioneer, Ricky Lee, did a fabulous job of getting the best price he could for the items. Friends and visitors donated their evening and their funds to insure that The Warm Hearts Humane Society has the funding to continue to help the animals in our county.

One of the main priorities of our organization is to provide low cost spay/neuter vouchers to help stop the flow of unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. In 2016, we were able to underwrite the spay/neuter of over 200 dogs and cats. In addition to that, we rescued and rehomed over 50 animals by fostering in private homes. This would not be possible without the support of the community. Our expenses last year topped $35K. We raised over $12K at our event to continue the good work.

Our hearts are very warm, and we want to extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone who donated their time, energy and money to help make this event such a huge success.

A Bounty of Food

Tails are wagging! Look at all of this food.

Sometimes food comes from the least-expected places….like from a business meeting! Yes, a business meeting.

When Robert Jacuzzi and his associates held a meeting recently at Mountain Harbor Resort and Spa, each participant was asked to bring a bag of dog food for Warm Hearts. And they brought dog food! Look at this bounty.

With over 30 dogs in our foster program, food is a huge expense for us. What a wonderful gift this is. Thank you!

Fish Fry Fundraiser Set For March 29, 2014

Sure hope all of you reading this can join your friends and come enjoy Warm Hearts’ annual fish fry fund raiser on Saturday, March 29, 2014.

The event will again be hosted at the Joplin (Arkansas) Volunteer Fire Department on Mountain Harbor Road. There will be plenty of great food, and both a live and silent auction will be held with great items on which you can bid.

We look forward to seeing you at this important fund raising event for the benefit of the neglected animals of Montgomery County.

The Fish Fry Fundraiser Was A Huge Success – Mar. 30, 2013

Question: What do fried fish, friends, fur and a guy in a big green St. Patrick’s Day hat have in common?

Answer: Raising money for a worthy cause.

A great crowd was on hand to enjoy the fish fry and to help support Warm Hearts.

All of that came together Saturday, March 30, when the Warm Hearts Humane Society held its second annual fish fry fund raiser at the Joplin Volunteer Fire Department.

Co-sponsored by the Mountain Harbor Resort and Spa, the Joplin Store, and the Joplin Volunteer Fire Department, the event provided fried fish dinners for close to 200 people who turned out and enjoyed good food and fellowship and, most importantly, support the year-long efforts and programs of the WHHS.

And, the best news of all, through food purchases, donations and silent and live auctions, just over $7,800 was raised for the Pat Paradies Emergency Animal Fund to provide veterinary services to needy animals in Montgomery County.

Chris Darby and Chris Barnes of Mountain Harbor Resort prepared the fish and hush puppies to perfection.

The event was held from 4-7 p.m., and early in the day things weren’t looking very good as far as the weather goes.

The morning was filled with overcast skies and rain with a bit of chill in the air. By early afternoon the rain had stopped. Then, shortly before the 4 p.m. start, temperatures warmed a bit and the sun peeked out from behind the clouds. It made for a wonderful late afternoon/early evening setting.

For just $5 a plate, those attending enjoyed fried fish, French fries Cole slaw, hushpuppies, iced tea or lemonade and deserts, including some great strawberry shortcake.

Phyllis and Freddie Davis and friend Charlie provided wonderful entertainment while everyone enjoyed their food.

There was live music, provided by Phyllis and Freddie Davis and Friend, and of course the auctions, where a large number of items were up for bid, both silently and vocally.

Of the total $7,800-plus raised, just over $5,000 was the result of the auctions.

The WHHS offers a great big thanks to all those volunteers who helped put this event together and make it such a huge success and to those who donated items to the auctions. Of course, a special thanks to those who purchased auction items as well as to everyone who turned out to support this annual fund-raising event.

Oh yeah, that guy wearing the big green St. Patrick Day hat was none other than Ricky Lee, who once again served as the auctioneer.

Okay, everyone agreed, Ricky didn’t look much like a leprechaun, but he sure did work his magic and help provide the WHHS with a little pot of gold at the end of this rainbow day.
